Missions

How to live on mission in your everyday life

Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.” (2 Corinthians 5:20, ESV)

As the people of God we are called to be missionaries, imploring people to be reconciled to Christ. The work has already been done, Jesus died on behalf of sinful humanity and offers righteousness to us.(2 Cor 5:21) And now by faith people can be made new.( 2 Cor 5:17) There is no greater joy than to see someone receive the gift of eternal life through you. Many want to be used by Christ but lack a plan so at City Church we have a simple plan you can begin to use. This missional plan is a way we encourage you to be open for God to use you to read your friends, relatives neighbors or associates.

  1. Pray
First, we encourage to regularly pray to God for the salvation of 3 people who are not part of a gospel-preaching church, live within driving distance of where our church gathers on Sunday morning. Ask yourself, “What would increase this person’s joy in life?” and begin praying for it. Use a passage of scripture to pray that God would save them. Write these things on an index card; pray for people at least once a week. Keep praying for them until you begin to view these people through the lens of the gospel.

  2. Love
Second, we encourage you to Love them. The goal is to sacrificially move toward someone. Ask God, “How would you want to use me to increase this person’s joy?” This is so that they can say about you, “This person cares about me.”

  3. Introduce
Third, introduce them to your community. Give someone a tangible experience of life in the body of Christ. Invite them to church or a homegroup. Think about what’s already natural for the 3 people you’re praying for, and recruit other church members to do it regularly with you. The prayer is that they see your community as “attractively different.”

  4. Speak
Lastly, present the words of the gospel in a way that challenges someone. Read more on how to share the gospel in 3 minutes here
