Hey church as school begins, we have a great opportunity to serve students and families and to meet a need that schools need to practice all the safety measures due to Covid-19. Camp Susque is mobilizing churches to meet this need. We have been invited as a church to participate in being one of the sites that host students three days a week as the school district engages in the hybrid schedule. Think about all the impact we could make in their lives and the many problems we can avoid by offering this. We don’t want children to be home alone and starving. City Church is invited to adopt a school.
Here is a brief ideal rundown of what will happen:
1. Students opt in to the program through the registration system (Camp Susque provides).
2. Students picked up via "second run" bussing, dropped off at specified location (or for city locations, walk/drop off)
3. Students head into their learning spaces, set up computers, and participate in opening activities
4. Remote learning time, with supervisors available to help (having been trained in Schoology).
5. Lunch will be provided at each location. Students eat at the workspace.
6. Optional activity time post-lunch, with reading groups, small group instruction, various activities.
7. Large Group activity (socially distanced, hopefully outside weather/location dependent)
8. Clean up, prepare for departure.
9. Leave on busses.
What is needed:
1. One person who is willing to help lead this program at City Church. We will have a stipend towards compensating you for all the extra time it will require to run the program.
2. Volunteers willing to come and interact and help serve students from the time they come till the time they leave.
Please consider being generous with your time towards us serving in this great need.
Please email me at raphael@citychurchpa.org ASAP if you can help as we need to give them our response.
