Grow 2024

In 2024, we as a church have an opportunity to dig our roots deep into Jesus and grow. This year, I am challenging us to habits of fasting, feasting, and focusing.

Prayer

We pray because God invites us to come to him and enjoy him as our Father, delighting in all that he is for us because of Jesus. But we also pray because we believe he is our heavenly Father with all power and authority. He is omnipotent, and with him, all things are possible (Mark 10:27; Luke 1:37). As we look out at the brokenness around us and even inside of us, we are forced to face our need for the grace and renewing power of God. Prayer is how we express that need.

Prayer resources

Fasting :

We challenge you to set aside a portion of time to abstain from things like food or other activities to sharpen your affection for Jesus.

Every Thursday, would you consider fasting with us. Examples are: taking a break from all social media, limiting all media, eating one meal a day, or fasting for the whole day.

Feasting:

Fasting opens a way for us to feast. Would you make it a daily habit to hear from God and respond? We believe that through the Bible God speaks, and we respond to him in prayer.

We are inviting you to:

  • Read the Bible with us by choosing one of these programs according to your ability. Choose a plan and invite a friend to read along with you.

Focusing:

Silence and solitude are a tool God uses to restore our souls by breaking engagements with the world.

Author Charles Stone defines silence and solitude in the following ways:

• Solitude: The practice of temporarily being absent from other people (in isolation or anonymity) and other things so that you can be present with God. It’s not loneliness nor is it getting away from people just because we don’t like them. It’s more about what we do with our bodies.

• Silence: The practice of voluntarily and temporarily abstaining from speaking so that certain spiritual goals might be sought. It’s about what we do with our tongues, what we say.

This year we are challenging you to commit to either of these two practices of solitude:

-    Silence and Solitude (10 mins / Day)

-    Silence and Solitude (1 Hour weekly)
