why this series

This Sunday we begin a series on the Essentials of the Christian faith. Two reasons why we are doing this first as we grow in being a diverse body we want to strengthen what brings us together. Second, The apostle Paul in Philippians 3:1 writes “Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you is no trouble to me and is safe for you. [1]”  and the apostle Peter right before he dies writes to the dispersed churches in 1 peter 1:13 I think it right, as long as I am in this body, to stir you up by way of reminder, [2] It is with the same Spirit that I come to you and invite you to oin us as we explore the basics of our faith in the next couple of weeks.

We will focus on the essentials in Christian beginnings How do I become a Christian, how can I be sure I am a Christian, How to grow as a Christian.

We will also focus on the essentials in belief where we will look at the trinity God the father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. We will also dedicate a week to study Satan our main enemy.

Lastly we will focus on essentials in behavior Moral standards, bible reading and prayer, Community and Communion and Missions. Our prayer is that this will help us to you “…continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven…”[3]
