At Citychurch, everything revolves around our one sentence purpose statement: to extend the glory of God by making disciples through the gospel of Jesus Christ. This vision translates for us into three key values; gospel, community, and mission. Our weekly updates are designed to keep this focus.
One of the greatest preachers of all time, Charles Spurgeon, used to read through the entire Bible four times a year, every year! Rather than think it got old, he quoted, “Nobody ever outgrows Scripture; the book widens and deepens with our years.”
So, let’s steel ourselves to this week’s Community Bible Readings (CBR):
Mar 26 — Isaiah 52, Romans 9;
Mar 27 — Isaiah 53, Romans 10;
Mar 28 — Isaiah 54, Romans 11;
Mar 29 — Isaiah 55, Romans 12;
Mar 30 — Isaiah 56, Romans 13; and
Mar 31 — Psalm 117.
Remember, if you wish to share your thoughts and questions on the Bible, contact the church office to hook with an individual or an on-line text group (firstname.lastname@example.org).
This week is our Men’s study night, which will meet at 6:30 PM on Tuesday night at the church. All men are invited to attend to study and focus on the sermon from Sunday!
As always, keep in mind that the “Legacy” youth ministry for grades 6-12 and meets every Thursday at the church from 6:30-8:30. Contact youth pastor Kevin Garza (email@example.com) at the church office if you have any questions.
An important fellowship experience is coming up on April 15thright after church. We will be having our Easter SundayPotluck. Please sign up at the Guest Table at the entrance to the sanctuary for a dish to share. And make sure you invite a friend to attend!
This Sunday we will celebrate Easter, and we hope to have a full house! Everyone on the service team, whether they are scheduled to serve or not, should be open to jump in case we have a need for more help (which would be a good thing!) Remember also, “the earlier you come, the further away you should park.”
In keeping with our prayers for the church at large, and especially our partners in Acts 29, we praying this week for Grace Chapel, Durban, South Africa.
We are especially praying for their youth leader Bruce Chimani, a Zimbabwean who is serving there while enrolled in the Acts 29 Africa Academy. Citychurch has been helping fund Bruce in his studies in the A29 Academy. Pray for him as he grows in ministry experience and knowledge of the Word of God.
