This Week at City Church

At Citychurch, everything revolves around our one sentence purpose statement: to extend the glory of God by making disciples through the gospel of Jesus Christ.  This vision translates for us into three key values; gospel, community, and mission.  Our weekly updates are designed to keep this focus.

In remembrance of George Washington’s birthday on February 22th,  Make sure you are doing what God wants you to do — then do it with all your strength.” We know what God wants us to do from reading His Word! This week’s Community Bible Readings (CBR) are: Feb 19 — Isaiah 27, Acts 12;      Feb 20 — Isaiah 28, Acts 13;      Feb 21 — Isaiah 29, Acts 14; Feb 22 — Isaiah 30, Acts 15; Feb 23 — Isaiah 31, Acts 16; Feb 24 — Psalm 112.         There are two ways you can share your thoughts on these readings. One is at 9:15am, Sundays at the church, led by Larry Stout, in the downstairs Legacy Room. You can also share your thoughts virtually with an on-line text group.  There are several, so contact the church office to get plugged into one.      Remember: you can always listen to the message on-line!  This is especially important for those becoming part of home groups as the Sunday message will be a fundamental part of our discussions together.

Reminder to those serving in Citychurch and come early to church on Sunday morning.  Consider a rule of thumb that may be tough to swallow, but it is a sign of service — the earlier you arrive, the further away you should park.  This will help free up space in our parking lot, especially for late comers.  Think “community” in the way your park your car!      “Legacy” is the new youth ministry for grades 6-12 and meets every Thursday at the church from 6:30-8:30.  If you have questions, contact our youth pastor Kevin Garza - Kevin@citychurchpa.org This week is our Home Group Week — it is not too late to check one out if you are not signed up!

We are part of the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) which is a call to the church to take the gospel to the whole world. We cannot physically go to the ends of the earth, but we can actively pray for those who do. This week we are praying for Scott Zeller, who is planting Redeemer Church in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Scott is specifically focusing on immigrants from the Philippines who speak Tagalog (primary language for a quarter of Filipinos and second language for the majority of them).  Pray for Scott in his current efforts in raising up elders for this new church plant.
