At Citychurch, everything revolves around our one sentence purpose statement: To extend the glory of God by making disciples through the gospel of Jesus Christ.
This vision translates for us into three key values; gospel, community, and mission.
Our weekly updates are designed to keep this focus.
More and more in our church are discovering the joy in participating in the Community Bible Reading (CBR) Plan. Journals can be purchased for $10/each at the church bookstore, but anyone can participate on their own.
This week the lessons are:
Jan 22 — Isaiah 7, Luke 16;
Jan 23— Isaiah 8, Luke 17;
Jan 24 — Isaiah 9, Luke 18;
Jan 25 — Isaiah 10, Luke 19;
Jan 26 — Isaiah 11, Luke 20;
Jan 27th — Psalm 108.
Read with ACTS in mind; adoration (identifying those areas to praise the Father for His attributes and actions; confession (recognizing areas that need to be confessed to God as sin); thanksgiving (for his salvation past, present, and future), and supplication (ask the Lord to transform you in particular ways). (Note: those interested in sharing their reflections on their weekly readings in the CBR should consider attending the Adult Study that meets at 9:15 AM and goes to 10:00 on Sunday morning in the City Gate Room (end of the hallway past the Men’s Room downstairs).
** Reminder to anyone who misses church that they can listen to the message on-line by accessing the church’s website, citychurchpa.org.
February will be here shortly and there are two big events awaiting. First, there will be a Marriage Conference held on the weekend of February 2-3rd. This is for all those who are married or those who are thinking about marriage. Signup sheets are located at the Welcome Table at the entranceway of the church.
Also beginning in February we will be starting up our home groups again. There will be five groups meeting in various locations. The design of these groups will be to meet weekly/biweekly and discuss together the sermon series delivered on Sundays. Signup sheets are located in the back of the church.
One good question everyone should ask themselves, “in what way am I helping City Church fulfill it’s mission?” (Note: The stated mission is to “extend the glory of God by making disciples through the gospel of Jesus Christ.” We consider this so important, we remind you of it at the beginning of each of these weekly updates.) The strength of our church is in our servants and servant leaders to "extend" the glory of God. If you believe the Lord is calling you to ‘stretch’ to a greater dimension of spirit-directed action for the good of City Church and the calling we have to this region as well as the world, please speak with Pastor Raphael or one of the elders (Earl and Larry) to guide you in this direction.
Each week we are seeking to pray for a church that we partner with. This week we are asking for prayer for a fellow Acts 29 partner, Stonegate Church in Midlothian, Texas. They have supported City Church financially and pray for us regularly. They have a passion to see gospel-centered churches raised up all over the world. Let us join with them in this great endeavor.
